Speeding Tickets

Getting a speeding ticket is one of those things that is bound to happen sooner or later if you are a routine speeder (like 90%+) of drivers. Knowing what to do and how to act when you get a speeding ticket can make a big difference between having to pay a full fine for your actual speed or a reduced fine for a reduced speed, or even getting out of the speeding ticket completely.

Below are some basic tips for beating a speeding ticket:

1. Always be polite to the officer. Being rude or short is a sure way to make sure you will get that speeding ticket.
2. Don't argue the ticket on the road unless you truly feel you have a strong case as to why the officer is wrong about your speeding ticket. Try to keep from saying anything that will cause the officer to single you out or easily remember your actions.
3. Don't admit guild - admitting guilt almost always results in a full ticket, and your statement can be used against you if you decide to challenge the speeding ticket in court.
4. Remember all of the details about the event and write them down if necessary. You will need this information later to fight your speeding ticket.
5. Prepare to fight the ticket in court; prepare a response about why you do not feel the speeding ticket was correct. In many cases you will be able to avoid the ticket simply because the officer will not be able to show on the day of your court appointment.
