Air Compressors

'); // --> Air compressors are an extremely helpful item for home owners, mechanics, carpenters and more. Air compressors allow easy inflating of tires, inflatable pools and other items, as well as allow the use of air (pneumatic) tools. Air tools are rapidly increasing in popularity because of their lower weight than electric tools, higher power (in many cases), value and versatility. A good air compressor is the foundation of a good air tools set. When shopping for an air compressor, the main things to look out for are: - The size and style. What will you be using the air compressor for? Is a portable unit a must? Is a heavy duty model needed? - The tank size. Tanks range in size from 2 to 150 gallons. The longer you need to use the air compressor continously, the larger the tank you will need. - What type of pump does the air compressor use. Pump types include invector, direct drive and belt drive pumps. Each has their differences and advantages. Direct-drive and belt-drive pumps generally have longer durability. - The power level of the air compressor. Most air compressors rate their power in either horsepower or CFM (cubic feet of air moved per minute). Tools like air nailers and staplers will need at least 1-5 CFM. Heavier air tools like impact wrenches, sanders and spray guns will require additional power. It is recommended that a variety of air compressors be cross-shopped to find the model that best fits your needs. Checking out a variety of online retailers will also allow you to find the lowest price on your air compressor, often at a significant savings of traditional retailers. |
