Computer Rentals

If you are looking to rent a computer, many rental services will conveniently offer a good selection. Computer rentals are available for many different types of events including conferences or off-site corporate meetings.

Major metropolitan areas like New York, Chicago and Los Angeles have dozens of local computer rental services available. Many of the nationwide A/V rental services will also offer computer rentals, with the option of having computers delivered right to the location you need them. Computer rental services generally offer desktop computers, but many will also offer notebook and laptop computer rentals.

Be sure to check when renting a computer whether or not it includes the monitor, and what the size of the monitor is. Many computer rental services will charge separately for the monitor. There is nothing worse than thinking you have rented both, to only find out you only rented the computer, and have nothing to use as a display.

If you are renting a computer and monitor for an event, be sure to keep in mind the size of the location you will have set up for the computer. Many booth designs will only accommodate monitors of certain sizes, so check ahead before going all out, and renting a 21-inch monitor.

You may also want to look into renting a LCD monitor if it is available. LCD monitors are much thinner, and often weigh just a fraction of what a standard CRT monitor might. Many smaller LCD monitors will weigh in under 10 pounds, whereas many CRT monitors weigh 40 pounds or more. For large display areas, plasma monitors are also often available, currently up to a 61-inch screen size. Both are easily configured to work with your computer rentals.

Lastly, when considering computer rentals, make sure it has the proper device needed for you to load your data, presentations, etc. Most computer rental units will obviously have a floppy disk and CD-ROM drive, but if you are using a DVD or storage media like Zip Drives, make sure the computer you rent has the capabilities to read these formats
