Injection Molding refers to the plastics manufacturing process whereby heated (melted) plastic is injected into a metal or ceramic mold, creating a plastic part. Once the plastic has cooled significantly, the plastic part is ejected, and the process repeats. As a result, injection molding is a very common technique for manufacturing plastic parts, allowing highly accurate reproduction at high rates of speed.

Other advantages of plastic injection molding include low labor costs since the process is very automated, a low percentage of waste material, and wide flexibility in the types of parts that can be produced through injection molding.
