LCD Projector Brightness LCD projector brightness is measured in a standard called ANSI lumens. ANSI lumens are a numeric scale describing how bright of an image the projector is able to create. The brightness of a projector is very important for determining how easy the projected image will be easy to see, and is especially important for presentations that include a lot of text, images or graphs.
LCD Projectors generally range from under 500 to over 3,000 ANSI lumens. Typically, projectors under 600 lumens can be considered to be very dim, and are generally only useable in the darkest of situations, and preferably in a small room with a short viewing distance and screen size. Projectors that are able to display over 1500 lumens will usually work quite well in even fairly bright ambient lighting conditions, and with a larger room and screen size. When considering which projector to rent, be sure to consider the size of the room you will be using the projector in, the size of the audience and their viewing angle, the size of the screen that you will be using (the larger the screen, the brighter the projector is needed), and the lighting conditions. Projectors of around 1000-1500 lumens will generally be sufficiently strong enough for most standard business meeting rooms with mixed lighting conditions. If you are using the projector for a very large conference room or auditorium, you will surely want a projector that offers over 1500 lumens, and preferably 2000 lumens. Note that higher brightness projectors often will cost more to rent, since they require more advanced optics and lamps.
