4. Make sure the presentation room contains a screen

If possible, check before hand if the room/area you will be presenting in has a screen. With the exception of the brightest projectors, LCD projectors commonly need a white screen for best display. In a pinch, a white wall will work, if the projection distance is not too great, but off-white walls can often make text difficult to read. If the presentation area does not include a screen, check with the projector rental service, as they will commonly rent portable screens for an additional fee.

5. Double-check ahead that the LCD projector is fully functional

Most rental services do a good job of ensuring their projectors are in working order when they are dispatched. However, it is always good to ask the rental service to hand check the projector to make sure it is functioning correctly. Projectors are fairly fragile items, bulbs can burn out, and power supplies can overheat. Although problems are very rare, it is always better to double check to make sure your presentation goes off without a hitch.

6. Make sure you have all of the right connections

When renting a LCD projector, make sure that it will include all of the necessary connections for you to be able to use it. This is commonly the proper power supply cord, and typically a VGA cable if connecting to a standard PC or laptop, or S-video for connecting to standard video sources like VCRs. Note that many newer projectors will also offer digital component inputs, allowing you to connect them to DVD players and digital video tuners for enhanced image clarity.
