LCD Projector
Resolution
LCD projectors are commonly available in a wide variety of resolutions
to fit the user's needs. The standard resolution of projectors is
called SVGA, and displays an 800x600 pixel resolution. This is generally
the minimum acceptable resolution, and will allow you to match many
laptop computers that run in this resolution or greater. For basic
presentations that rely on large text, bullet points, and minimal
'clip-art'-type graphics, SVGA should be sufficient.
Next
up is what is typically referred to as XGA, or 1024x768 pixel resolution.
This is a common resolution for many people to use on their computers
and laptops, so XGA projectors will not typically require the user
to change their display settings to optimize the image performance.
XGA resolutions is considerably better for presentations that require
small text, more complex images or photos, and that may include Excel
spreadsheets or other charts with smaller font numbers.
Two
additional higher resolutions exist, but are not typically needed
for most business situations. Both also cost considerably more for
the projector manufacturer's to build, so rental prices will also
be considerably higher. Also, note that some rental services may not
offer these resolutions.
SXGA
resolution offers 1280x1024 pixel resolution, and is often used by
advanced computer users for the display of engineering and architectural
diagrams, detailed photos, or CAD/CAM applications. The highest resolution
currently available is UXGA, which supports a very impressive 1600x1200
resolution for the most demanding applications.
