Projector Size and Weight LCD projectors range greatly in size and weight. The largest weigh over 20 pounds, and can be quite difficult to lug around between different meeting locations or presentation areas. They are also quite difficult to travel with, if that is required. The smallest projectors can weight less than 2 pounds, but often sacrifice brightness (power) and features as a result. Generally, LCD projectors under 7 pounds will be quite easy to carry around if needed. Those from 7 to 12 pounds are still portable, but can be more taxing, especially if you are carrying other equipment such as a laptop or even day-trip luggage. Projectors over 12 pounds are difficult to travel with by most people, and require two hands for careful movement from location to location. It should also be noted that the largest projectors often offer the best performance, brightness and features, but as a result are more costly to rent. Likewise, the smallest LCD projectors also often cost more as a result of their compact design. If price is your main motivating factor for choosing between projectors, the middle ground can be the cheapest in many cases. If you do need a portable projector, and plan to be mobile, make sure your projector rental includes a carry case. This will make moving the projector much easier, and also minimize risk of damage. |
