Ergonomic Keyboard

Ergonomic keyboards have come a long way in allowing more and more office workers the ability to work at their computers for longer periods of time without suffering from the pain or discomfort, as well as more serious possible disorders, associated with typing.

Simply stated, ergonomic keyboards are designed to help relieve many of the stresses placed on the arm and hand when typing over a significant period of time. These stresses include extension, deviation and pronation. An ergonomic keyboard provides relief from many of these stresses which typically causes discomfort, muscular inflammation, and even pain.

A variety of ergonomic keyboards are available on the market today. Some are easier than others to get used to typing, compared to a regular keyboard. Many experts recommend starting with a 'mild' ergonomic keyboard such as the Microsoft Natural Keyboard, as they are quite easy to transition to. More advanced ergonomic keyboard are available, but often require significant 're-training' to bring typing speeds back up to normal levels.
