Touchscreens

You can find touchscreens just about everywhere these days if you look carefully. A touchscreen is an input device that allows the user to interact with the computer by touching the display screen. Touchscreens allow you to point directly at an object. They require little or no training, are faster than other pointing devices, and require no extra work surface. However, the disadvantages of touchscreens include arm fatigue, smudges, optical interference, and increased glare. Modern touchscreens use a thin, durable, transparent plastic sheet overlaid onto the glass screen. The location of a touch is calculated from the capacitance for the X and Y axes, which varies based upon where the sheet is touched.
