Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Preparation

Preparing for any test can be tedious, but the preparation for taking the SAT doesn’t have to be a daunting task. There are many choices for SAT preparation that will ease student anxiety about this popular college entrance exam. Some of the myriad of choices available for SAT prep includes a common sense approach of lots of reading which increases your vocabulary. You can also choose free sources such as the free ETS (Educational Testing Services) Guide available through high school counselors or at local public libraries. ETS created the original SAT and has a plethora of strategies for SAT prep. Additionally, free mini tests are available online for SAT prep.

You can also elect to pay for SAT test preparation by choosing to purchase private tutoring, organized courses (both online and at local schools) or SAT prep books. While these can be expensive, many feel more empowered with this extra SAT prep. High school juniors can elect to take the PSAT which is a practice version of the SAT. The cost is minimal and will provide you with an idea of how the SAT is organized and the student’s areas of strength and weakness. Some students as young as 7th graders can be asked by larger colleges to take the real SAT with high school seniors to get an idea of test taking strategies. They can retake this test yearly for the ultimate SAT prep. Above all relax, stay calm, get plenty of sleep and begin SAT preparation very early to improve your test taking skills.
