Satellite Radio
|
|
'); // --> One of the most recent entries into the digital entertainment space is satellite radio. Satellite radio is a unique system that sends digital music, sports, talk shows and other types of audio entertainment to a small satellite receiver. Although satellite radio is a relatively new innovation, you are already seeing it show up as a high-end option in cars and compact units are now starting to compete with MP3 devices. The real draw for satellite radio providers it variety, relatively low cost, and wide area coverage. And unlike other portable music devices, there is no need to pre-load the satellite radio receiver with your favorite songs before you go. One drawback in using satellite radio is that you need to purchase the equipment and then buy a subscription to programming. Plans are available monthly, annually, and even lifetime. I would not recommend the purchase of a lifetime plan unless you are comfortable with the risk. If the company goes out of business, you will likely not receive a refund and since the technology and the companies are still getting started, a lifetime subscription can be a risky proposition. If you are a fan of digital music, you should certainly give satellite radio a look. There are a number of good resources available online but prices vary and you should shop around to find the best deal |
