Bipolar Disorder
|
|
'); // --> Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness, is a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in a person's mood, energy, and ability to function. Different from the normal ups and downs that everyone goes through, the symptoms of bipolar disorder are severe. But there is good news: bipolar disorder can be treated, and people with this illness can lead full and productive lives. The symptoms of bipolar disorder include, but are not limited to: restlessness, quick swings from "good" to "bad" moods, feelings of hopelessness or pessimism, extreme irritability, racing thoughts or difficulty concentrating, provacative or aggressive behavior, and denial that anything is wrong. Treatments for bipolar disorder include a wide variety of medications designed to stabilize moods, or reduce reoccurence of manic episodes. Most doctors also recommend that those suffering from bipolar disorder work with a psychiatrist and active therapy. |
