Breast Implants
Breast implant surgery, also known as breast augmentation, is a surgical procedure designed to enhance the size and shape of a woman's breasts. Breast implants are available for a variety of reasons, including increasing breast size, to correct breasts that are different sizes, and to regain breast volume after pregnancy.
Breast implants have improved considerably over the past decade, as the number of doctors and techniques available increased. Modern day breast implants are generally accepted to be safe, although all surgery carries some risk. The most common side effect of receiving breast implants is the occurrence of a small scar at the incision point. The incision to inset the breast implants is typically in the breast crease, under the nipple, or in the armpit. Each incision point has advantages and disadvantages, so be sure to discuss the right choice with your doctor.
Most breast implant surgery procedures will take just a few hours. Recovery is very quick, although there will be some discomfort for several days afterwards. Typically, most people are able to return to their daily lives within 2-3 days after the surgery, and stitches are removed about 7-10 days later.
